Chinese vegan restaurant Mao Chow opens Express concept

The location aims to showcase ‘takeaway classics' that founder Julian Denis and chef Harry Fox grew up with.

Chinese vegan restaurant Mao Chow has opened its Express concept, located at Boxpark Shoreditch.

A collaboration between Mao Chow founder Julian Denis and chef Harry Fox, the Boxpark site is described as a space “where Julian and Harry can channel their passion for the takeaway classics they grew up with.”

Housed in a modern food court setting, Mao Chow Express’ menu includes Prawn Toasts, Kung Pao Chicken and Char Siu Bao. Other dishes on the menu will include ‘Prawn’ Toast, Cantonese ‘Beef Jerky’ Fried Rice and Ginger-Scallion ‘Chicken’.

“When we sat down to create the new menu for Mao Chow Express, we both realised there were a lot of crossovers in dishes that we both loved – prawn toast, char siu bao, kung pao chicken, special fried rice. All dishes that we absolutely love and adore. They are truly perfect and have been crafted by years of migration,” Denis said.
