New restaurant openings surged by 2.8% in the first nine months of 2024, a report by Meaningful Vision revealed.
Chicken chains have emerged as the primary growth driver, with a remarkable 7% increase in outlets. Ethnic fast food followed closely behind, with a nearly 7% growth rate.
Coffee shops experienced a 3.6% increase, fueled by popular chains.
Bakeries, sandwich shops, and burger chains maintained steady growth, whilst pizza delivery outlets saw a modest 0.4% growth.
“The number of new fast-food restaurant openings in the UK is experiencing substantial growth, particularly within the chicken segment. This trend is fueled by both established chains and emerging players. While the market is expanding, it's crucial for businesses to carefully analyse regional dynamics and consumer preferences to capitalise on opportunities and mitigate risks,” Maria Vanifatova, CEO of Meaningful Vision, said.
