Consumers wanting more “innovative” vegan dishes: study
Lack of choice is key frustration among vegan consumers.
Consumers are reportedly complaining about the lack of choice and innovation in vegan dishes when eating out.
A recent CGA Food Insights research noted that the “lack of imagination” in vegan choices is the “biggest frustration” of consumers when heading out to eat, whilst four out of ten consumers complained about not having enough choices.
“Offering innovative dishes which cater for vegan diets will broaden the appeal of a menu and give vegan, and would-be vegan consumers additional choice and increased engagement,” CGA suggested in a statement.
The research also noted that some 86% of vegan consumers prefer “specially created” vegan dishes on the menu than those adapted from a non-vegan dish.
One out of every five consumers are currently subscribed to a meat-free or partially meat-free diet, whilst only four percent follows a strict vegan diet.
