London's Waitrose among "best" large format stores for food-to-go, according to IGD
The market research company also lauded five other large stores for delivering food-to-go and foodservice solutions.
London-based Waitrose in Granary Square is among the "best" large format stores for their food-to-go services, according to IGD.
"A core food-to-go counter, a juice bar, wine & tapas bar and integrated cookery school all add to the overall experience, encouraging dwell time and use of the store for a variety of different missions. In addition we’ve seen a lot of focus on developing grab and go ranges to meet a variety of needs and target different customer groups, including providing vegan/ vegetarian and gluten free options," the market research company said in a post.
IGD adds that such experience is complemented by Waitrose's range across food-for-later options, attuned to "meeting multiple smaller missions."
Other supermarkets they have commended for for delivering food-to-go and foodservice solutions are Ireland-based Supervalu and Jumbo Foodmarkt in the Netherlands.
