Vegan orders on Deliveroo surge 330% in two years
The number of vegan restaurants on the app also increased over the past year.
Since World Vegan Day two years ago, orders of plant-based dishes on Deliveroo have risen by a massive 330 percent, the food delivery platform has revealed.
Over the past 12 months, the number of vegan restaurants on the app increased by 168%, one of the fastest-growing categories on the platform.
This year, Deliveroo identified the growing popularity of imitation meats as the “hottest” new vegan category.
Amongst the most popular vegan dishes in the past month on Deliveroo include Honest Burgers’ ‘PLANT burger + Chips’, which is made with a Beyond Meat patty; Wagamama’s vegatsu, Greggs’ vegan sausage roll and PizzaExpress’ vegan margherita pizza.
“Whether flexitarian or full-fledged vegan, Deliveroo customers are embracing the growing choices of vegan foods available for delivery. No longer resigned to just salads, Brits are loving imitation meats, vegan-friendly alternatives and the infamous dirty vegan dishes,” Deliveroo UK & Ireland head of communications Joe Groves said.
