Costa Coffee Powers Strong Whitbread Results
Like for like sales up 7.3% in the 11 weeks to August 14th.
Whitbread, the hotel and restaurant group, have provided a trading update for the period ending August 14 and they are pleasing reading for Costa, the coffee shop chain.
Costa saw UK retail system sales rise 16.4% to £325.4 mill and Enterprise (inc. Costa Express) system sales rise 19.1% to £151.5 mill, with the addition of 76 stores in the UK since the beginning of the year.
The news was also positive for international operations, with international systems sales up 9.3% to £126.8 mill, incorporating 4.3% in EMEI and 20.8% in Asia.
