Hanna will take up the role from January 1.
The Restaurant Group (TRG) announced ex-Cadbury finance chief Ken Hanna will be its new chairman.
The London-listed group, which owns Wagamama, Garfunkel's and Frankie & Benny's, will succeed Debbie Hewitt, who will step down at the end of the year to chair the Football Association (FA).
Hanna, who is an experienced boardroom executive, will take up the role from January 1.
