Costa Coffee acquisition by Coca-Cola gains approval in China

The beverage company only needs the approval from EU and Whitbread’s pension fund trustees.

Coca-Cola has obtained the regulatory approval in China for the proposed acquisition of Costa Coffee from Whitbread for £3.9 billion.

According to a report by This is Money, the beverage company is now seeking the approval in EU and from Whitbread’s pension fund trustees for the acquisition to take place.

Last October, Whitbread announced that their shareholders have approved of the takeover whereas 99.27% voted in favour.
