McDonald’s UK sales rise 7.8% in Q1 2026
Growth was driven by a stronger focus on customer demand and faster execution by staff.
McDonald’s has reported its global first-quarter 2026 results, with the UK recording a 7.8% rise in comparable sales, outperforming expectations.
Lauren Schultz, CEO of McDonald’s UK and Ireland, said the growth was driven by increased focus on customer demand and faster execution by staff.
She said the company improved its value offers, expanded promotions, and pushed product innovation, including new breakfast items, limited “secret” menu offerings, and higher-end burger options.
Marketing campaigns tied to popular culture also contributed to customer engagement.
Schultz added that operational changes such as longer opening hours, growth in delivery services, and expanded mobile ordering helped increase convenience.
She also pointed to improvements in service speed, order accuracy, and overall customer satisfaction.
“By getting the fundamentals right for our customers and supporting our teams to succeed, despite a tough and competitive external environment, we’ve built strong momentum into Q2,” Schultz said.
Globally, McDonald’s comparable sales rose 3.8% in the quarter.
This included a 3.9% increase in the US, 3.9% in internationally operated markets, and 3.4% in licensed international markets.
