Omar Allibhoy wins International Tapa Award
Allibhoy won the International Tapas Award – GOLD by the Tapas Academy of Madrid.
The award was granted in recognition of his work towards the promotion and internationalisation of tapas, and his commitment to Spanish cuisine throughout his professional career in the United Kingdom. The ‘Academia de la Tapa de Madrid’, or the Tapas Academy of Madrid, is an independent, non-profit organization which aims to promote tapas’ cultural, social, historical and economic value, as well as a prime symbol of Spain’s gastronomy and social culture.
This award has previously been awarded to two-Michelin starred chef, José Andrés.
Hailing from Madrid, Omar Allibhoy has been bringing a taste of Spain to the UK with his Spanish tapas bars, Tapas Revolution (www.tapasrevolution.com). Today, his business has expanded to six locations across the UK and two highly-successful cookbooks, Tapas Revolution, and Spanish Made Simple.
Allibhoy said: “It’s an honour to receive such a prestigious award from The Tapas Academy of Madrid. Tapas is more than just food, it’s a way of life in Spain and I’m passionate about bringing this easy, convivial style of eating and socialising to the UK.
