EXCLUSIVE: Subway sees “plenty of demand” for vegan products in the market
The sandwich chain talks to QSR Media after launching their menu shakeup.
Whilst recognising the rapid rise in veganism, Subway explains that their recently-launched vegan range is for everyone.
Speaking to QSR Media, the sandwich chain observes a “huge interest” in the Vegan Patty, even more compared to their Veggie Patty.
“There's definitely plenty of demand for vegan products in the market,” a spokesperson for Subway said. “We've had some great feedback so far with the launch of our vegan range. We're excited that our products can cater to everyone - even if you're not vegan, they're a perfect, tasty alternative.”
Other vegan items include the Vegan Sub and Vegan Signature Loaded Wrap, both of which are made with red pepper, spicy chilli, garlic and red onion, and as well as a Vegan Salad. Their gluten-free bread, developed with their European team, was also introduced in the UK and Ireland markets.
Some of the items make up the chain's recently-announced menu shake up, featuring a range of 21 new and improved ingredients.
Subway has yet to confirm other plans for vegan menu items, but says they are on the lookout for feedback.
“We're always keen to hear customer feedback and give our guests what they want as a result. We look forward to seeing what's to come for Subway and we'd encourage people to keep an eye out,” the spokesperson added.
