LEON Launches Largest Ever Vegan Menu
Launch marks chain's 15th birthday.
In celebration of its 15th anniversary, LEON announced the launch nine new vegan dishes, which they describe as the company’s biggest vegan menu launch since starting in 2004.
“Since we opened our doors 15 years ago, we have continued to innovate, providing new and exciting ways for everyone to eat fresh, natural and seasonal food,” LEON co-founder and CEO John Vincent said.
The new menu features Jack Wings, cheesy vegan nuggets filled with pulled jackfruit in a gluten-free crumb; a vegan aioli, which will replace LEON’s existing yoghurt-based garlic aioli and the Thom’s BBQ Sauce, which was developed by LEON’s ‘Urban Farmer’ Thom Malley.
Vegan-friendly desserts that are part of the range include the Raspberry & Rose Donut and Birthday Cake, a red velvet cupcake with vegan cream cheese frosting. Proceeds from the latter will be given to the LEON Foundation.
The new Coco Whip, a dairy-free coconut soft-serve ice cream, Vegan Shake Ups, Juicy Water and iced tea round up the rest of the menu.
“Over that time, we have constantly evolved and this latest menu shake up marks an important step for us. we know plant based eating is better for body and planet, but we want to make plant-based options the tastiest choice too,” Vincent added.
LEON revealed that as of January 2019, 64% of its sales were generated from its vegetarian whilst 55% are from vegan ones. These figures went up as compared to January 2018 where 46% of sales were vegetarian and 34% were vegan.
