Starbucks in Wireless Charging First
First on the high street to offer Powermat wireless charging technology.
Starbucks have just announced the launch of Powermat wireless charging technology at ten of their central London stores.
Coming on the back of research showing that 92% of people in the UK suffer some level of stress when their smartphone runs out of power, Starbucks customers will be able to alleviate that stress and solve their lack of connectivity by collecting a 'Ring' at the till point, connecting it to their phone, and placing the device on the designated charging mats.
Speaking of the launch, Ian Cranna, VP Marketing and Category at Starbucks EMEA said "We have always tried to... innovate with technology to provide even more convenience (to our customers). Our partnership... demonstrates Starbucks response to an increasing need to stay connected whilst on the go".
Carlo Chiarello, Chief Solutions Officer, Powermat added "We are excited to bring Powermat wireless charging to the UK on the heels of our very successful rollout in the San Francisco market... Starbucks are among the first to benefit from this new convenience and added value".
The initial stores to rollout the technology are Princes Street, Kingsway, Wardour Street, Pentonville Road, Harewood Place, Berkeley Street, Great Portland Street, Moorgate, Fleet Street and Euston Tower, with further locations to follow.
