Delivery sales 357% higher than pre-COVID levels in April

However, sales have plateaued in 2022, with April’s delivery and takeaway sales were 34% below the levels of April 2021.

Delivery sales at Britain’s restaurant and pub groups were 357% higher in April of this year compared to pre-COVID levels of April 2019, the latest edition of the CGA & Slerp Hospitality at Home Tracker showed.

Takeaway and click-and-collect sales have also increased over the last three years as a rate of 26%.

Combined, sales of deliveries and takeaways were 114% higher than in April 2019, accounting for around 24 pence in every pound spent with the managed groups participating in the Tracker.

However, sales have plateaued in 2022, with April’s delivery and takeaway sales were 34% below the levels of April 2021, when Britain was emerging from strict COVID-19 restrictions and venues were starting to reopen.
