Pub and restaurant chains see 1.5% like-for-like sales growth in November, study says

The sales of chains operating in London have outpaced the growth of businesses from the rest of Britain.

Pub and restaurant chains have gained a 1.5% growth on collective like-for-like sales for November as compared to its prior month, according to the Coffer Peach Business Tracker of business consultancy CGA in partnership with Coffer Group and RSM.

Both pub and restaurant sectors saw positive sales with like-for-like sales rising at 2.1% and 0.6% respectively.

“The November figures will be welcome for a market that has seen generally flat trading across the year, and operators will hope this upward trend continues into the festive season,” Karl Chessell, director of CGA.

Meanwhile, operations in London also had their like-for-like sales increase by 2.3% which outpaced the rest of Britain who saw a 1.3% growth.

“Restaurant chains also did marginally better in the capital, with sales up 0.9%, compared to 0.5%, but as the figures show remain under pressure from increased costs and tough competition,” Chessell added.
