EXCLUSIVE: YO! Sushi looks to mainstream personalised health with “DNA dining” concept
The Japanese street food and sushi chain is offering free DNA tests and a tailored plate plan.
Recognising the growing trend of personalisation, YO! Sushi has announced YO! Dinner, YO! Way, a “DNA dining concept” done in partnership with genetic testing company DNAFit.
Through DNAFit’s techonology, customers can learn the most suitable nutrition to feed their bodies. Diners will also get a tailored recommendation on what to eat at YO! in their personalised plate plan, which is designed in collaboration by DNAFit dieticians and YO! Chefs.
“We wanted to go one step further and help diners find out how their body ticks and the best nutrients and ingredients to feed it with. DNA dining is just the start of food personalisation and we’re very excited to bring it to the mainstream with DNAFit’s award-winning technology,” Luisa Fernandez, Marketing Director at YO!, said.
“We know that personalisation is becoming increasingly important to so many decisions we make each day as consumers, and YO! Dinner, YO! Way will get diners one step closer to living their best possible life,” Avi Lasarow, CEO of DNAFit, added.
Speaking to QSR Media, a spokesperson for the Japanese street food and sushi chain elaborated on the test, saying that it will inform them of their optimal diet type, various exercise metrics, and will come with a 30-minute consultation from an expert.
“Customer reports will be available within 10 business days from receipt of their sample,” the spokesperson explained.
A new report by YO! Sushi and The Future Laboratory revealed that “personalists”, customers who embrace technology and science to track their wellness and use data to feed their diet choices, will be one of five types of groups emerging in the next five to ten years.
YO! Sushi is currently allocating a limited number of spaces nationwide for the DNA dining experience.
