Greggs sees vegan sausage roll shortage due to Britain’s supply chain disruption

The item was launched by the high street group in 2019 and helped to serve up a significant sales boost in the same year.

Greggs has warned its vegan sausage roll was the latest product to be affected by supply chain disruption.

Reuters first reported that the bakery giant said there were "temporary interruptions" to supplies of products, including their vegan sausage rolls, across the United Kingdom.

The roll, a light puff pastry with a seasoned Quorn filling, was launched by the high street group in 2019 and helped to serve up a significant sales boost in the same year.

"Some shops may not have them or may not have them throughout the day. It varies," said a spokesperson for the chain.

Earlier this year, Greggs reported the first loss in its history as a listed business for the 2020 financial year, posting a pre-tax loss of £13.7 million.
